| "Painting is my passion and full
time job." |
My work focuses on the figure, professional models as well
as people in everyday life and my observations of them. I paint
people in art galleries, singers, waiters, etc., but mostly people who are
waiting. |
Most
of us live in “hurry & wait” mode, and I know that while we wait, a
lot of life happens: in the conversations we have, it’s when we make decisions,
it’s when we worry, in waiting rooms, waiting for important, maybe life
changing news; in a restaurant, a serious moment in a relationship or friends
reminiscing... the scenarios are endless. So I observe and sketch. Later,
I compose my version of the event on canvas so that others can also observe,
writing their own scripts for the scene.
To me, what is most important about my work is the underlying
structure, which implies conviction to life, gravity, and reality. My goal is
to create simple, understated yet dramatic pieces that offer enough variety
to entertain the viewer. - Linda Smith
